Sennheiser

Family business from Lower Saxony with worldwide success

Audio specialist Sennheiser, headquartered in Wedemark near Hanover, Germany, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of headphones, microphones and wireless transmission technology with its own production facilities in Germany, Ireland and the USA.

The history of audiophile sound begins with the HD 414. The world’s first open headphones revolutionized the headphone market in 1968. To date, the HD 414 remains one of the best-selling headphones in the world with more than 10 million copies sold.

Another milestone followed when Sennheiser’s engineers combined the principle of open headphones with the principle of electrostatic sound converter technology for the first time. In 1977, Sennheiser introduced the Unipolar 2000 and delighted the professional world. The underlying principle was once again an innovation in the audio world.

From a flood of new headphones in 1991, the electrostatic Orpheus HE 90 / HEV 90 truly stands out. With no less a claim than to build the best headphone in the world, the Sennheiser developers had gone back to work and surpassed once again the expectations of the audio industry with this electrostatic headphone and its impressive tube amplifier. Due to its extremely elaborate processing, the Orpheus is limited to 300 copies. To this day, the legendary headphone remains the benchmark for audiophiles in terms of hearing and all high-end models developed by the audio specialist Sennheiser.
